Good-bye Grassy, Hello Almaty?!?

We haven't left yet but we are getting ready for the big move. Going from a place with a small amount of people (500) to a city of 1.5 million--and everyone keeps asking if we are excited--we are but also a little apprehensive about the unknown. We have had such a good year at Grassy and we are hoping that it has been a great training grounds for some of the things we can expect in Almaty--power outages, internet down, not the brand name you want, and small living quarters but great people and always something to do.

We are moving from Grassy Plains on the 30th of July with the help of my family and then we will spend 6 days at the farm with Auntie Tina and Uncle George--Kyla and Cody are very excited. We hope to fly out on August 5--that is if our visas arrive and right now that is looking a little sketchy.

It is a little hard to tell from the photo but we are all wearing clothes with "Canada" written on it--thanks to our family for outfitting us. We will be showing up in more pictures with the same clothes!!!!!

Looking forward to reading about all the adventures once you get there and settled !! Hope your travel went smoothly. It'll also be cool to hear your perspective on China - Beijing, etc. being in Almaty.

Its fun to read your blog! Sure brings back alot of memories of days gone by! Heathrow airport, the tube, being harrassed by people wanting to carry your bags, etc. Does right of way go by the size of vehicle there? That always makes for interesting traffic. Your school sounds like quite the building!! Look forward to hearing more.
