When the Soviets left in 1993, there were 68 operational mosques in Kazkahstan. In 2011, there are more than 2,200. Simple math: they open a new mosque every 3 days.
Originally from a very small town in British Columbia, we are now living in Almaty, Kazakhstan, a city of 1.5 million. Dave is an English teacher, Edna is the school's Financial Officer, Kyla is in Grade 3, and Cody is in Grade 1. This is our second year here. We hope you enjoy reading our blog--it acts as our diary of life in the former USSR, the thrills, chills, and spills. Please leave a message; we'll get right back to you.
